How can I Upload .pl and .cgi scripts"
As you probably know, FrontPage loads up it's files
using html protocol. If you publish your site normally
and you have .pl or .cgi scripts in your directories, they
will not work correctly without modifying a file on your
site.
You MUST be careful when doing this, but as long as you
are careful, it will work okay. This is done on your computer,
not on the web.
NOTICE:
Before working on any file that would affect your
system, whether it be FP files, Win files or
whatever, it's always a good idea to make a
back-up of that file.
(Thanks to Brian Farkas for that
reminder.)
There is a few things that can cause this to appear.
If you did a normal install of FrontPage, then go to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft FrontPage and run
"FrontPage Server Administrator" program.
If you do not see a port listed there, then click
on "Install" button.
If you are using MS PWS, in the next box, make
sure that "Microsoft Personal Web Server" is what
shows in the box next to "Server type"
Also, make sure that on the main Admin page,
the
"Content directory" points to where your webs
are stored on your HD.
Another fix is to once again open the "FrontPage
Server Administrator" and click on the "Check
and Fix" button. Sometimes the extensions on
your Hard Drive get corrupted, just like they do
on the Server.
